Staxi’s Flex Fare
You’ve probably wondered how much it would cost to go from point A to point B by taxi. We work with peak and off-peak hours. In any case, it’s cheaper when you pre-book your Staxi (as opposed to boarding a random taxicab on the street or at a taxi stand). But when the supply of Staxi’s exceeds the demand, you’re even cheaper off.
Travelling during off-peak hours is the best way to save money on your next Amsterdam taxi. For example, suppose you’re travelling from Eastern Docklands (Oostelijk havengebied) to Schiphol Airport. In that case, this is what our Flex Fare will save you:
Metered fare: approx. € 66 to € 72
Staxi rate: € 39
Staxi’s Flex Fare: € 31.20
We’re flexible with our off-peak hours. Make sure that you first enter the date and time you want to travel in our online taxi fare calculator or the Staxi App. You’ll then see how much your Amsterdam taxi costs at that particular time.
Taxi cost without reservation
If you hail a taxi on the streets or get in at a taxi rank, the taxi driver will always charge a metered fare. How these prices are compiled is explained below.
When travelling by regular sedan taxi, one kilometer will cost € 2.47. The rate per kilometer for taxi vans is € 3.11. On top of that, the starting rate and the tariff per minute will be added to the total price.
It’s no secret that taxis can rack up some hefty bills. For instance, when there’s a roadblock and the driver has to make a detour, the fare quickly rises. Or maybe your ride takes a lot longer than expected, and the cost increases accordingly. That’s not unthinkable: when driving on the meter, the taxi driver is obliged to take the shortest (but not per se the fastest) route possible.
You’ve saved time, money, and energy by booking your Amsterdam taxi with us. You’ll always know how much it’ll cost before you go. The fare is fixed, so there’s no need to worry about how much it’ll cost once you’ve booked it with us.
Cheap taxi in Amsterdam
Taking a taxi is often cheaper than travelling by public transport if you’re with a group. Are you visiting Amsterdam by car? In that case, you will probably have a lot of parking costs too. Just one hour of parking in the city center will set you back no less than € 7.50.
Instead, you can book a taxi bus with us and enjoy the ride, knowing you’ve just saved yourself a lot of money (and headache). You don’t have to worry about parking fees, finding parking spaces, or trying to find your car again when you return. Instead, we’ll transport you from door to door comfortably with Staxi.
With the all-in price you get at Staxi, you know what you’ll pay down to the cent and save money compared to taking a taxi on the street.

Frequently asked questions
When you book a taxi with us, you will get a fixed price in advance. The exact cost depends on several things.
The distance of the ride
Of course, you will pay less for a shorter ride. However, our rate per kilometre decreases as the total distance increases. That is unique because most drivers use their taximeter, which charges a fixed amount for each kilometre. As a result, you are off cheaper with Staxi than with other taxi companies.
The type of vehicle
A ride in a regular taxi is cheaper than a ride in a taxi van. When you pre-book your taxi with us, the difference in costs between a minivan and sedan is smaller than when you flag down a cab on the street or get in at a taxi rank. In that case, the driver will charge the meter rate, which is more expensive than our fixed rates.
Supply and demand
Just like a plane ticket or a night in a hotel, the fare for the same trip can fluctuate, depending on supply and demand. For example: in extreme weather conditions, such as heavy snow, the need for taxi transport increases rapidly, which makes the price rise. The same journey can also be a lot cheaper, for instance, travelling at a quiet time.
As such, Staxi works with peak and off-peak hours. Our software automatically adjusts the fares based on supply and demand. In quiet moments, you will travel even cheaper with Staxi.
Staxi has no minimum or maximum reservation time. You can order a taxi at any time.
Tip: When you book a taxi with the Staxi App, you can see precisely where the driver is and what time he or she will arrive.
At Staxi you can pay for your taxi in any way you like. Because we work with fixed prices, it is possible to pay in advance via your trusted payment environment such as iDeal, Sofort or PayPal.
Would you rather pay on-site with the driver? That’s possible too! Our drivers accept cash as well as debit and credit card payments. Without any extra costs, of course!
