Three facts about Zwanenburg
Zwanenburg owes its name to the Gemeenlandshuis Swanenburg (also known as: Huis Zwanenburg) in Halfweg. From 1735 daily measurements of the weather were made here. These so-called Zwanenburg measurements were the first weather measurements taken in Holland. Together with early measurements from Utrecht, which by the way have only been made since 1848, the Zwanenburg-Utrecht-De Bilt series is used internationally for climate research.
Until 2019, the twin village of Zwanenburg-Halfweg lay in two municipalities. Zwanenburg belonged to Haarlemmermeer and Halfweg to the municipality of Haarlemmerliede and Spaarnwoude. Both villages now fall under the municipality of Haarlemmermeer.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the action group ‘De Last Zwanenburger’ (The Troublesome Zwanenburger) took action against the noise nuisance caused by the take-off and landing from the Zwanenburg runway. Among other things, the action group called out the seven plagues over Schiphol after a promise by then Minister Smit-Kroes that Schiphol should be given all the space it needs to grow. For example, activists released mice in the departure hall. Since 1986 nothing has been heard of De Last Zwanenburger.

Of course, you will pay less for a shorter ride. However, our rate per kilometre decreases as the total distance increases. That is unique because most taxi companies offer a metered fare based on a fixed amount for each kilometre. As a result, you are off cheaper with Staxi than with other taxi companies.
The type of vehicle
