The municipality of Zaanstad has announced plans for mandatory ticketing for tourists from the 2026 tourist season. At the same time, the official Zaanse Schans channels still communicate that the area is freely accessible and that tickets are mainly for locations and museums. So just check shortly before your visit what applies at that moment.
