If you’re visiting Amsterdam anywhere between March 21st and May 19th, be sure to spend a day in the world famous Keukenhof!
Keukenhof is a magnificent flower garden, located in Lisse (that’s about half way between Amsterdam and The Hague). Each spring, Keukenhof opens its doors to visitors for two short months at the start of the blooming season.
Lots of people plan their visit to the Netherlands around this time, to enjoy the flowers that we are so famous for. But there’s a lot more to do at Keukenhof than wandering the flower-filled premises and taking the most beautiful photos you ever took. Be sure to read on to discover what Keukenhof has to offer!
You could spend a whole day admiring the flowers and art sculptures in the gardens. But you can also take off and admire the gardens and surrounding flower fields from the sky! From April 13th to May 5th there’s an opportunity to book a flight in a Royal DC-3 Dakota aircraft and enjoy a unique view from about 1,000 feet (300 meters) up in the sky!
If that’s a little too much, you can choose a more peaceful but not less delightful way to explore the flower fields in an electrically-propelled whisper boat. A boat tour takes about 45 minutes, during which you can admire the glorious fields in virtual silence.
Next to these activities, there are many more events to attend. With ‘Flower Power’ being the theme of this years Keukenhof, there will be an actual Woodstock Festival from May 13th until May 19th.
