What are the costs for my taxi ride?
Can you relate? You take a taxi, set your destination, the meter starts running and when you’ve reached your final destination, the costs are much higher than you anticipated.
At Staxi, you’ll know what the exact costs for your taxi will be in advance. And when you travel during off-peak hours, you’ll strike a real bargain!
Staxi’s Flex Fare
We work with peak and off-peak hours. In any case, it’s cheaper when you pre-book your Staxi (as opposed to boarding a random taxi on the street or at a taxi stand). But when the supply of Staxi’s exceeds the demand, you’re even cheaper off.
So how much will it save you when you travel during off-peak hours? As an example, a ride from the Eastern Docklands (Oostelijk havengebied) to Schiphol Airport:
Metered fare: approx. € 66 to € 72
Staxi rate: € 39
Staxi’s Flex Fare: € 31.20
Our off-peak hours are flexible. Make sure that you first enter the date and time you want to travel on in our online taxi fare calculator or the Staxi App. You’ll then see the price that applies at that time.
Always a fixed price for your taxi
When you pre-book at Staxi, there will be no surprises about the prices. You’ll get a fixed price in advance with each pre-booking, meaning:
✓ No starting rate
✓ No rate per kilometer
✓ No waiting rate
✓ No hidden costs afterwards
What’s more, we do not charge extra for card payments or additional passengers. There will be no night time surcharge and no luggage surcharge. Just a clear, flat rate.
That is why we’ve taken on the motto fixed price, no surprise! The fare is fixed, even if the driver has to make a detour caused by a roadblock for example. For no added costs, we will get you to your destination as quickly as possible.

Taxi costs without reservation
If you hail a taxi on the streets or when you get in at a taxi rank, the taxi driver will always calculate a metered fare. How these prices are compiled, is stated elsewhere on this page.
When the fare is metered, travelling one kilometer will set you back no less than € 2.40. Then there’s the starting rate and the tariff per minute that all will be added to the total price.
As you can see, the costs can get sky-high pretty quickly. For instance, when there’s a roadblock and the driver has to make a detour. Or maybe your ride takes a lot longer than expected. That’s not unthinkable: when driving on the meter, the taxi driver is obliged to take the shortest (but not per se the fastest) route possible.

Cheap taxi in Amsterdam
When you’re with a group, taking a taxi in Amsterdam is often cheaper than travelling by public transport. Are you visiting Amsterdam by car? In that case, you will probably have a lot of parking costs too. Just one hour of parking in the city center will set you back no less than € 7.50.
With the all-in price you get at Staxi, you know exactly what you’ll pay in advance and most of the times you will pay less than when you take a taxi on the street.
